The installation The BLINDs WORLD II [BW2] is defined as Phase II of the Knowbotic Interface Project [KIP] of the Institute for New Media [INM] and it will be based on BW1.
The knowbots of BW2 will have substantial extensions compared to the knowbots of BW1: the memory can then handle also individual objects to model other persons, the action module will have a rule-based planning processor with a facility to produce contra-factual plans, and the language module will be able to learn and to handle simple speech-acts.
The memory will be improved with regard to the ability to extract knowledge out of sense-stimuli for the construction of hypothetical objects. Especially there will be the additional capability to collect local knowledge about individual objects to represent certain `characters'. This type of information is necessary in the course of planning or during communication.
To improve the flexibility of the action module it will be enhanced with a rule based processor to construct and to consume plans organized as modifiable sets of rules. Furthermore, there will be the ability to `act contra-factually', i.e. to construct a sequence of actions based on the available knowledge and then to evaluate the possible outcome, the possible `costs' etc.
The language module will be extended with a speech-act-manager. Presupposing the basic mechanisms of the lexicon-module, this manager learns to project simple types of speech-acts into a given situation.
It will depend on the manpower available, whether there will be also an improvement e.g. of the graphical output (full 3D) and of audio in-/ output.
