Semiotics

Another disciplin which could be of great help to the endeavor of setting up a sound theory of a child learning and using a language could be semiotics. Centered around the concept of `sign ' and `sign usage ' one could develop a purely formal semiotical concept of sign usage and apply this to the emerging concept of a language learning agent. A `sign agent' realized as a computer program would represent a semiotic machine.
